I am writing to say thank you for arranging the return of the cash that my daughter's friend left in Julie's cottage after we left at the end of our weeks stay recently. We knew our daughter's friend had 'lost' some cash - likley to be in the cottage. But kids being kids she could not remember exactly where it had gone!! We were pleasantly surprised when you phoned to say the cash had been found by your staff who were clearing up after our week with you. This demonstration of honesty impressed us very much. We think you should know this and we would like to say thank you once again. We look forward to staying at Plasdinorwic again. Kind regards.
“Who stays in a place like this.....” Anybody who wishes to relax within a peaceful and tranquil setting then this is it. We had a long week-end here - our aim was to relax. The owner of the hotel is very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The evening Receptionist/bar maid really made us feel at home. They were both very concerned when we told them that the wind (which was very high that day) was coming through the small gap in the window - no problem, they sent the handyman up to sort this out (it was 9.30 p.m.!). The next morning they asked if we had a comfortable night, and that they would up-grade us to another room which they did. Nothing seemed too much trouble to any of the staff. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order and the toast, crumpets and croissants where there for toasting/warming up yourself, which was fine because you could have it when you wanted, and as much. I only wish I had not been at work the following day or I would have been tempted to stay another night
“Heaven on Earth! “ I have stayed at the pink palace over the past 2 years it is my heaven on earth it is my place of solitude. A beautiful setting, amazing staff and a sanctuary for anyone who just wants to check out of the rat race of life and experience a real experience with real people. This is my favorite place on the planet. A must for everyone to experience half of me doesn't want to share it but the other half feels it is too good not to share.
“This is a hotel with personality and that's what sets it apart...” I stayed in The Tower which is separate from the hotel itself, right on the edge of the water, it's almost like being on a boat! Even in the middle of a gale-force November storm the view is breathtakingly beautiful! The food is simple and hearty and the staff are without exception friendly and accommodating -I was made to feel like a special guest! Overall I felt 100% at home, I didn't want to leave and will definitely be back...the sooner the better! Thank you!!!
“The Pink Palace is a trip worth taking at least once in your lifetime!” I stayed in what was known as The Tower, which is just off of the main hotel and to be honest it was so peaceful and idyllic I rarely ventured to the main hotel! The main hotel is functional and very quiet, but what sets it apart is the friendliness of the staff......a very enjoyable stay and will definitely be going back soon.
“Best stay ever.” It's not often that I bother to write reviews; really you sort of expect a service and if you receive something around that expectation you're happy, maybe pleasantly surprised or maybe have a little grumble on the way out. I worked out that I'vestayed in about 15 hotels this year and all of them were satisfactory, some better than others, but nothing that would get me at the keyboard to vent my displeasure or flourish with praise. Taht is until my stay at the self descriptive Pink Palace or Plas Dinorwic in Y Felinheli in North Wales. Coming from South Wales I know that we are expected to be hospitable, the warmest of welcomes and inquisitive. Sometimes for some reason this is not said about our brothers and sisters in the north. If there was any doubt about this in my mind my night (yes - it only took one night to feel the duty to write this), has provided the clearest of answers. I am yet to meet hotel staff (and I'm not talking about the odd one who might go a little further than the norm - but everyone that I encountered) who are friendlier and more willing to accommodate and really push the boat out to make a stay in a hotel more than just a night away. We were treated like royalty and no request was too much. Yes the room was clean (as I'd expect) and comfortable and the surroundings were pleasant but the effort and friendliness of all staff far exceeded anything that you would expect. Every need of our two year old daughter was catered for with a smile (more than we can do at times), the bar staff made us feel like this was our local and we even had breakfast despite not getting up until an hour after it should have finished. I dn't know what people wnat from a hotel or a review but if I could stay for a night at any hotel in the world it would be here - I guess that that is the best i can say. Diolch i chi i gyd!
“the friendliest hotel in Wales” My wife and I stayed at the hotel to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and found it to be a really enjoyable stay the room was lovely the staff and proprietors were the friendliest most helpful people you could meet I would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again the food is also excellent
“Excellence at its cheapest with great value for money” We stayed at this hotel for two nights and found it to be perfect four star value. The service was excellent and homely. The staff were polite and friendly and nothing was any trouble. The room was very spacious and well furnished including small walk in wardrobe with room to store cases and bags, trouser press and an adequate en-suite. The bed was king sized and comfortable. The room was clean and tidy and very quite with no noise from traffic. I had a problem with two window blinds being thin and admitting light in the early hours of the morning. This was a small price to pay as the location was brilliant with views of the Menai Straits. About half a mile away is a very good pub that does excellent meals. I liked the whole package and would recommend to friends had reason to visit North Wales especially very convenient for "The Snowdon Mountain Railway" or its walks.
“Don't believe the bad reviews. Go here! It is brilliant.” My husband booked this hotel for a weekend away for us to go to see some National Trust places. We were so lucky with the location. Not only are there many places to see around the area, but the hotel itself was in the most amazing place: Absolutely stunning harbour. Like with many places there were a few hiccups when we arrived and I myself was feeling quite ill and nearly didn't go away. But once I walked into our allocated room I was on cloud nine. We stayed in Deck 3 which was on 2 floors and was more like an apartment with amazing views over the harbour than a basic room. The staff were EXCELLENT. The girl on reception when we arrived, kindly booked us a table at a local pub/restaurant, who despite being fully booked served us well. The lady who served us breakfast was brilliant, funny, friendly and so generous. This isn't any normal hotel it is a family hotel. Somewhere you can feel at home in. I have no problem saying... Everyone should stay at this hotel. OK, we didn't use the pool so I can't review on that but given the fact that we had the time of our lives without going in the pool should say something. I don't know about most people but I would rather have friendly staff, great views and a comfy bed over a swimming pool any day.
“Definitely be back!” On arrival we were shown to our room after a weary walk up Snowdon the door opened into "a room with a view". Stunning, relaxing, comfortable and clean. We booked an evening meal of steak and chips and it was perfect. Few drinks then to bed. Breakfast was equally nice and we sat eating whilst looking out on the marina. Will definitely be back. The lovely lady who waved us off after breakfast was so welcoming and accommodating we will certainly be back. Hopefully for longer next time. XXXXXXX from 3 Marie Curie climbers with thanks
Reviewed by John Burton. From England. The superb Hotel Plas Dinorwic, Y Felinheli, Caernarfon We only stayed for three nights at the Hotel Plas Dinorwic which is in a fantastic location overlooking the Menai Straight with ample car parking. The premises were very clean and tidy and the room we were allocated was very big, well equipped, exceedingly clean and absolutely superb in every way. We had breakfasts and evening meals each day which were prepared and served speedily in a 'three star' manner in restaurants with fantastic sea views. The Proprietors were extremely kind, pleasant, friendly, informative and caring and made us more than welcome. We can thoroughly recommend The Hotel Plas Dinorwic for the quality of the accommodation, the food, the attentiveness of the Proprietors and all the staff.
Reviewed by D Butler. From England. Fantastic hosts! Great location at the Marina and not far into town. Hotel clean and very friendly staff. In fact, hotel owner even took us to town in his own car to save us the cost of a taxi, and offered to pick us up later as well! Excellent value for money and only downside was the food and service in the restaurant. Food average at best and service incredibly slow. Other than that, would definitely recommend for the price paid.
Reviewed by M Donnelly. From Liverpool, England. A lasting - and good impression. Four of us stayed at this hotel for a weekend break, and to meet some friends who live locally. Hotel enjoys a good location with superb views over the Menai Straits and The Marina. The owners were very welcoming, showing us around the hotel when we arrived and bidding us goodbye as we left. Staff were quite efficient but very friendly, always greeting you with a smile. Rooms were ground floor located and were spacious. We enjoyed a meal in the Restaurant and breakfast was ample, even though we would have preferred to have tea/coffee and toast brought to us by the staff and not 'do it yourself'. Nevertheless, the hotel left us with very fond memories and we have already decided to stay there again, probably later this year.
Reviewed by Mark. From England. Whenever i work in the area i always stay at the Hotel Plas Dinorwic. Excellent room, excellent facilities and the staff were very obliging. I didn't use the pool but wished i had. The owners as always were very attentive which makes a refreshing change. I shall be staying here again in the near future.
“What a view, and the most helpful staff(/owners) I've ever encountered!” RBShropshire. My sister and I stayed at Plas Dinorwic Fri to Sun on a walking weekend. From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful and the lovely couple who own the hotel really went out of their way to help us have the most lovely relaxing weekend. The view from the massive window in our room over the Straits was fantastic. We'll be going again - soon!
The MUST visit hotel” eastcapetraveller. Trip type: Solo travel. A wonderful place. The views are out of this world, the staff, in particular the proprietor/owners, most hospitable, friendly and helpful and the food good. Although I was only able to spend a couple of nights I was enthralled. Being allocated the top room in the tower which, separate from the main hotel, is situated alongside the the lock gate leading to the port and enjoys 360 degree views. I was able to look down on the yachts in the harbour from both the bedroom and the lounge area and out onto the Menai Staights from the ensuite bathroom, whilst enjoying a soak in the spa bath. What a unique experience. Look out guys you will definately be seeing me again!
absolutely charming” sorschaL Canada. Trip type: Family. We stayed in Julie's Cottage at the hotel, a lovely roomy two bedroom self catering unit. But we still had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant! The pool was just the right size for our children age 5 & 7 and the staff very accommodating! Great place
Really lovely hotel” Kerry_8 Co. Kerry, Ireland. Trip type: Family. We recently stayed at Hotel Plas Dinorwic with our four children. We were accommodated in the tower, which is in a separate building, right on the seafront. The tower had three double bedrooms, all ensuite, with a separate kitchenette/lounge on the top floor. The views from the bedrooms are amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. We loved our stay so much that we have promised the kids a return visit next year.
“Couldn't have wished for a better view” NetballerSouthWales We booked this hotel ,never having been to Bangor before. Our daughter was playing in a netball tournament at the university and we wanted somewhere to stay that was comfortable after travelling for four hours. We certainly made the right choice, friendly staff, swimming pool, room with a fantastic view, cooked breakfast with the option to have absolutely anything you wanted, even a history lesson by the lovely lady owner who told us about the history of the area. We all felt very relaxed at the pink palace, nothing was too much trouble for the owners ,who even filled our flask for us for the long netballing spectator day.Ivor the owner has a great sense of humour and we could have listened to his stories all morning -our twelve year old daughter, was well impressed. We will definitely return next year, the location was ideal and we only wished that we could have stayed longer.
Awesome location, wonderful staff & view, we'll be back!” Sharonsweb Derby, England. We searched the Internet for a hotel in North Wales to accommodate our family of 5 and came up with Hotel Plas Dinorwic. We hadn’t read any reviews and didn’t know what to expect. We were only staying for one night and our main interest in the hotel was that it had a pool. We have 3 children on the autism spectrum and the pool is one thing that they all enjoy. We like the pool as it wears out the children so they will go to bed at a decent hour! What we didn’t expect was the great hospitality from the staff and the owner of the hotel. They went above and beyond all expectations. One of our children set off the pool alarm which had never happened so they learned how to turn it off while we were there and they had absolutely no problem with our special needs children. The restaurant was closed as the chef was off ill, so they offered several choices of restaurants and gave directions to Tesco for grocery shopping as well. Everyone seemed very knowledgeable about the area attractions and were happy to give us information and suggestions on things to see in the area. We were in SeaView 2 which has a breathtaking view! It’s difficult to find a room for a family of 5 at such a great price. Not fancy but very comfortable and felt like home. We had wished we had booked for at least 2 more days! We plan to go back to the area as there was so much to see and do. This hotel is the perfect location for the Caernarfon Castle, Bangor (we found a car boot there!), Conwy Castle and the beautiful Snowdonian Mountains…not to mention the scenic ocean views. We are Americans living in England on a 2-year secondment and are limited in the locations of travel due to our short time here. But we still plan to go back to North Wales and the “Pink Palace!”
“Very good hotel” Kucchi. London. I went to snowdonia with my husband and couple of friends on Christmas and stayed at Plas Dinorwic. The hotel is located right in front of the Menai Straits which looks like a lake and makes a very beautiful view. The hotel has nice rooms with good views overlooking the Menai Straits. There is also a nice and cosy library. When we reached the hotel, the reception staff greeted us nicely and upgraded our rooms. They made us some good snacks even late in the night when requested. The owner of the place is Isabella and her husband who are very friendly people and always ready to help. Because the place is family run, it has an extra feeling of warmth which probably one lacks in a chain-run hotel. I would love to go back to stay here when I visit snowdonia.
“fun, cosy ,beautiful views” larrks surrey. This may not be your ordinary pristine hotel. but bland it is not. You are made to feel welcome from the very start. the staff are friendly and helpful and the views spectacular. it also has great access to Snowdonia. Anglesey and Carnafon. We had a fab time there for two weeks and were sad to leave.
10/10. Debra (Group of work colleagues). From Enumclaw, WA , US. "The hosts were fantastic - they made us not only comfortable and welcome but gave us great information. We loved them. Their staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was beautiful and our view of the water and marina first rate." The room and view were great. Ivor and Isabel are marvelous. Instant coffee is the only bad point - for a hotel of your calibre it was really a surprise as everything else was first rate!
Mgillies1118 Cheshire “Go there you wont be disappointed” Well if you read the reviews and they are consistently good then it should be a fair bet that it will be. It is! If you want a nice stay in a very different location and style of hotel this is excellent. The views are fabulous. Staff chatty, nice and friendly. Go there and ask to be taken around. See the rooms and you will see how different styles can compliment each other. Loved it!
Review by Brass Allan. Booked this hotel because of it's close proximity to where our daughter is living and just wanted a place to rest our heads. However we were pleasantly surprised when we were shown to the room, it was a suite, with double bed, two large sofas, dining table and small kitchen area. We were able to have our daughter and her friend over for dinner which was a bonus. This hotel also has fantastic views over the menai strait and local marina and is ideal as it is located in a quiet area. will definitely be using this hotel again.
Review by Terry N. Most friendly hotel. Proprietor gave us a choice of rooms each with a lovely view and diferent theme. The room we ended up in had beautiful views over the estuary and an observation area. I believe the hotel to be undergoing some works at the moment, which did not effect our stay, and hope to return when all rooms are up to date and 100%
Review by Rev. Lis Budd. What a wonderful find! We stopped here for a night as we toured Anglesey and Holyhead. Our room was beautifully turned out with a gorgeous view of the Menai straits where both the sunset and early morning views were breathtaking. The food was both plentiful and delicious, as Americans we would have found fresh coffee an extra bonus, but this hotel and staff more than made up for instant coffee. The couple who own this hotel were charming and regaled us with local history and delightful companionship. An added benefit is their superb attention and service to travelers with medical needs and handicaps, something that was in many places a challenge to find. Here the staff bent over backwards to attend to my special needs and there is an excellent handicap accessible room with a view even! We could not recommend it enough and would have spent a second night if we did not already have an early flight booked. Will certainly stay there again.
Kiminto Morayshire Pretty as a picture Arrived to the warmest and friendliest of welcomes at this lovely hotel. We were very impressed with the spacious airiness of it, and our family room was just lovely. The views out are stunning. The variety at breakfast time was great, loads of different cereals to choose from, a selection of different breads to toast and several different kinds of tea. I liked being able to prepare my own cereal, tea and toast as it meant that we had something to get started on whilst our requested breakfasts were being freshly cooked, instead of cold toast arriving at the table, or having to wait to be asked if we wanted tea or coffee at busy times. The pool and sauna were great too, we could use them at any time we wanted and the owners were more than happy to go and turn the sauna on when we required it. They were very hospitable and flexible to our needs. We will definitely choose the Hotel Plas Dinorwic again.
